Unlike treatment for other cancers, uterine neoplasms can often be treated with operative measures alone, depending on the stage at diagnosis. Although it is sparsely reported, sexual dysfunction can be present in this population. One study comparing women before and after surgical intervention for uterine cancer versus women undergoing hysterectomy for benign etiologies found that urinary and climacteric symptoms (including sexual discomfort) were observed 1 year later in the uterine cancer groups, while patients who had procedures for benign conditions did not have similar complaints.
